Just want to make sure we are all on the same page here - the policy for
school mallets is simple:
Students are to use school supplied mallets for SCHOOL USE ONLY. This
includes UIL marching band, concert band, etc. They are NOT to be used for
general practice, private lessons (unless your lesson is on the UIL music), or
for class rehearsal.
For all individual events (solo and ensemble, masterclasses, all-state
audtions, lessons, regular practice) students are to use THEIR OWN PERSONAL
mallets. Each student has a required supply list and should have their
mallets each day for this purpose. We DO NOT supply each
student with personal mallets just like we do not give reeds to
woodwinds or mouthpieces to brass. The mallet fee in the band fee schedule
ONLY covers mallets needed for school events / purposes. Each child has
received SEVERAL mallets / bags / holders / accessories from this fund
already.
